It is quick and fast on any surface it drives on; nevertheless, a drag race between a Sport Quattro and a modern Audi R8 V10 Performance Spyder is a match to see. Thankfully, Mat Watson of CarWow saved us the trouble of organizing one.
Audi developed the Sport Quattro for homologation for Group B rallying, where participating cars try to get to the finish line faster without having to deal with many restrictions.
Since the Sport Quattro pioneered all-wheel drive system in rally cars and achieved tremendous success with it, it became the car to beat even among top level rally cars.
There were two versions of the Sport Quattro S1. Audi introduced the first in 1984, the carmaker then introduced the Sport Quattro S1 E2 version in 1985.
This version improves on the first iteration, boasting 493 hp of max output and 354 hp of torque. Because of lightweight nature (2,403 lbs), the Sport Quattro S1 E2 can accelerate from nil to 62 mph in 3.1 seconds. It seemed Mat brought the first version.
